Do you have strong leadership skills and a passion for art, music, food, film or the outdoors? Do you love to get out and meet new people? Are you looking for the opportunity to get involved in your community and take charge of a fabulous event? If so Sensational Elora needs you! We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join the Sensational Elora team as board members! We need people who are willing to invest their time and creativity into making our festival the best it can be. A strong commitment to the festival is a must, and most of the work can be done from home on your own schedule. The board of directors of Sensational Elora is a working board. We are looking for individuals with skills in one or more of the following: marketing, sponsorship, volunteer recruitment and retention, and social media. We are also looking for board members willing to become event leaders. If you think you may be interested in volunteering, sign up and let us know your area of interest. We will invite you to our next board meeting to get a sense of our team, before you make a commitment.
Committee members will work with our board members to plan and manage events. Committees will tend to have 2 to 3 planning meetings with various tasks identified and assigned to individuals. Committee members will be expected to attend the event they help plan to ensure it runs smoothly.
Are you looking for the opportunity to get involved in your community but don't have a lot of extra time on your hands? If so, our event volunteer opportunities may be your best alternative. There are many events to choose from throughout they year providing opportunities that meet your schedule and your area of interest. We run 6 - 10 events each year; Film On A Plate (one or two/year), Fabulous Fergus Pub Night, up to 4 Sensational Jazz events, Pumpkin Day, Sensational Soup-Off, Monster Month and Monster March. We are very grateful for all volunteer assistance, whether it is a single event or multiple. Let us know if you are interested in any of the above, we will add your name to our list and give you the opportunity to volunteer at your convenience.
Sensational Elora has recently added these two events to our long list. We purchased the monster menagerie know as the Twilight Zoo from artist Tim Murton and now, we are responsible for repair and maintenance of the zoo as well as installation and removal on store fronts and elsewhere throughout the town. The schedule is somewhat dependent on weather but, we prefer starting early summer with repairs so the Zoo is ready for installation October 1. If you feel that you would like to join us for one or more days of working on monsters, please let us know. We'll let you know about the schedule.
Monster March is a single event and we usually require a large number of volunteers to help with parade marshaling, street closures and preparation of Bissell Park for the end of the parade. This happens the 3rd Saturday of October each year. Let us know if you can help.
